Please join New America Foundation's Health Policy program in a meeting to discuss the certification of patient decision aids. The goal of this meeting is to produce a consensus document outlining the criteria for certification of aids and the process by which certification should take place. Specifically, participants will be asked to decide: what qualifies as a patient decision aid; how aids should be classified; the standards for certification of aids; the standards for the quality of aids; how often decision aids should be recertified; and who should do the certifying?
Upon the completion of this meeting, a consensus document will be circulated among the principal participants for comments. A final document will be sent to the National Quality Forum (NQF), National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), and Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), for the purposes of guiding the establishment of standards for decision aids as set out by Section 936 of the Affordable Care Act of 2010.
Upon completion, New America will be responsible for creating and circulating the consensus document, and delivering it to the NQF, NCQA and the Secretary of HHS.
This is an invite-only meeting. If you have questions, please contact Sam Wainwright at wainwright@newamerica.net.
